Kidneys cancer has been one of the most fearful cancers in the world. Kidneys itself is one of the most important organs in our body which function is to filter salt, water, and another excess from our blood. Although we can literally live with one kidney or can live without it with the medical help called dialysis, this cancer is in the sixth place for the most common cancer for men and tenth for women in the U.S. today we will give you some insight regarding kidney cancer and its statistic.

There are 3 types of kidneys cancer. The first one is Renal cell cancer. Renal cell cancer is the most common type kidney cancer. It mostly happens to adults and more than 8-9 from 10 people in the UK (almost 80%) of them are diagnosed with Renal cell cancer.

The second one is transitional cell cancer which 7 from 10 people diagnosed with it in the UK. This transitional cell cancer happens in the renal pelvis. Which is the central area of the kidney that collecting urines before it goes down to the bladder. The last one is Wilma tumor. This Wilma tumor only affects children.

The Factors

There are four kidney cancer risk factors that might trigger the cancer cell to grow in your kidney unnoticed, which are:

  • Cancer family background, including unhealthy lifestyle, age, and genetics.
  • Smoking and obesity
  • Radiation exposure
  • Inadequate physical activities


The Symptoms and Treatment

Here are the symptoms of kidney cancer, they are:

  • Blood in your urine
  • Having high blood pressure
  • Having some fatigue
  • Doesn’t have that much appetite
  • Having anemia
  • Having a mass lump
  • Swelling ankle and legs
  • And having a fever that is not from a cold or a flu
  • Having a varicocele.

The treatment of this cancer itself is usually done by surgery, especially if the cancer has not spread yet through the kidneys, it is a must to remove all the tumors nearby tissue and lymph nodes. While in the other hand, they are many treatments other than surgery that is specialized for this disease, such as targeting treatment which is a package of Anti-angiogenesis therapy, Tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), and mTOR inhibitors.

There is also immunotherapy that is done to boost body’s natural defenses to fight the cancer cells in the body. Chemotherapy is also one of the most important procedures as well to be done.

Kidney Cancer Statistic

According to about kidney cancer statistic, it estimated that nearly 63,990 adults (40,610 men and 23,380 women) in the US diagnosed or will be diagnosed with kidney cancer. The average age of this diagnosed patients is around 45 to 64. It is also estimated that there will be 4,400 deaths (9,470 men and 4,930 women) because of this disease and for the past 5 years, the survival rates of this disease are 74%. Although is really up to one’s physical condition, age, and health background which will be affected their recovery rates from the disease.
